«Would you sacrafice for Melanie? (Private Practice Show)»
Recently on ABC's 'Private Practice' they decided to promote a law that is called Safe Surrender. After watching the show I was touched by how this can affect all kinds of people. I for one have been touched long ago to do something about it thus helping the many who fought long and hard to have these laws on the books.
They made it very simple, have phone, have hotline, will help. I can't begin to tell you how many times we've taken calls and spoke to young mothers who were so scared they could not think straight. It makes you sit and wonder about life. It keeps you up at night. It comes down to one thing and one thing only. SACRAFICE!
Are you willing to do something? Are you willing to sacrafice? Can you sacrafice time to get involved and make a difference? Can you sacrafice money, even if it's the price of a cup of Starbucks per month? This is what it's all about...Sacrafice!
There are many ways you can help and the most important part is to get the word out. The second right now is funding. This does not come cheap and the work does cost money. Time = Money. We've all heard this many times and it is true.Â
When you happen to be on the front lines you sometimes see first hand the affects you have caused on someones life who happened to make a decision to give up their baby. When you hold that child in your arms and those eyes look up at you and the little hand as soft as air itself touches you...you start to cry...you start to feel that love that no one else can ever feel because that child is LOOKING AT YOU! Helpless, yet trusting you fully. When that happened to me the first time I could not sleep for a month. It made me stronger and a better man. Safe Surrender will always be here as long as I have breathe.
If you want to volunteer with us we can use you. I'll just point out three areas of needs.
1. Donations. We need funding and we need those who can give whatever they can on a monthly basis or other even if it's just 2 dollars per month. It does help.
2. Persons who can research in their counties and surrounding counties and find out who are certified as Safe Surrender Sites.
3. Someone who knows how to find those who are willing to give. If you have the gift of fundraising then we can use you.Â
Go to our site and click on Volunteers and fill out the information. We'll be in touch and we'll take it from there. I'm glad you watched the show and that it had touched you. There is more to come and much to do and it is going to take many Angels to help us get there. The best news so far is...it works!
